Talamore’s Isabella DiLisio excited to be in field of Valley Forge Invitational. POTTSTOWN, Pa. — She just finished her junior year at the Notre Dame and amateur Isabella DiLisio of Hatfield is now getting ready to compete in the Valley Forge Invitational at Raven’s Claw GC from May 24-26, her first Symetra Tour event.

“I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I got the invite, like six months ago or so,” said DiLisio. “This is my first professional event. I think it’s a great way to start off my maybe eventual professional career.”

“I’ve been taking it all in, looking at what everyone is doing. It’s cool seeing how they live and has been nice for me because it’s helping me figure out if that’s what I want to do after school.”

Tour sites in Texas hit, miss golf’s needs. Trinity Forest was built to host the PGA Tour. It is an arena for entertainment and probably will succeed in that goal.

Take away the PGA Tour connection, however, and this project got the same things wrong that developers and architects have gotten wrong for the past 30 years, which has pushed golf perilously closer to endangered-species status.

Golf needs low-maintenance, fast-play golf courses. Trinity Forest is a high-maintenance, slow-play golf course.

York, PA. golf club apologizes for calling cops on black women members. A golf club in Pennsylvania has apologized for calling police on a group of black women after the co-owner and his father said they were playing too slowly and refused requests to leave the course.

"I felt we were discriminated against," one of the women, Myneca Ojo, told the York Daily Record. "It was a horrific experience."

Sandra Thompson and four friends met up Saturday to play a round of golf at the Grandview Golf Club, where they are all members, she told the newspaper.

New owners spending $18 mil to upgrade DuPont County Club . Family heir Ben duPont and a former DuPont Company executive recently announced they’re not only buying the DuPont Country Club, but also investing millions to spruce it up.

“The experts that I’ve talked to, and I agree with this consensus, say, families are looking for more things to do together over shorter periods of time. So that means 18 holes of golf for dad by himself or mom by herself is out,” duPont said.

“But 9 holes, or a rock climbing wall, or a chance to get fitness, and swim in a pool, or hit golf balls in a driving range — those things are actually on the uptick nationally. And we think by just listening, doing a better job listening to the market that we can turn this around.”
