|Whistling Straits, host of this week’s Ryder Cup, was designed by Pete Dye after he watched Tour pros bomb tee shots beyond the hazards on most championship golf courses, rendering them defenseless.|
The course he came up with was what one writer described as "a thrilling procession of landing areas set on diagonal lines tucked behind mounds or bunkers to create semi-blind and comfortable tee shots."
