HISTORY

Old York CC at Chesterfield is situated on what was the magnificent farm of William Black III. William III built the original farm house in 1740 and operated a well known trading center and dairy farm on these grounds. Black’s Creek which crosses the property was named after him.

In 1965 Arrow brook ( a name they chose because they found arrow heads when excavating) was born, a golf club formed by a group of men who also built the banquet hall in the late sixties. Their group dissolved and the property was then transformed into a standard- bred horse farm in 1979.

When the Eget’s first drove up the drive in June of 1993 they fell in love with the property and bought it the next day. They were both committed to making it a course members would be proud of and creating a Country Club with a membership diverse in age, gender and background. Gary Player was hired and he and his design team created a course that has received unparallel accolades for brilliant design.

COURSE REVIEWS ( 2 ACTIVE, 0 PENDING )

5/10/2011 - Old York is a hidden treasure in Burlington County , New Jersey . I believe it is a "Thinking Man’s" golf course because it makes you use every club in your bag . As is the custom with Gary Player designed courses, you must know the distance you hit each club since most of Old York’s holes penalize you if you are too short and if you are too long with your shot . No mindless Grip It and Rip It on this course . Old York challenges your accuracy on every hole and offers quite a number of tee boxes that each offer their own challenges when you play . The course has had a considerable sum invested in improving the overall appearance . Improvements were also made recently in the Clubhouse facility . Overall, I would rank Old York as one of the finest country clubs in the State . If you ever have the opportunity to play Old York, don’t pass on it . You will enjoy the challenge without a doubt . - by Joe Reardon  View All Reviews
